Sometimes a little snippet of news creeps onto the interwebs from out of nowhere and absolutely makes my day. Today, Bleeding Cool confirmed, via an interview with director David Lynch on KCRW (and dugpa.com) that we will, in fact see a new Blu-ray edition of Blue Velvet soon and that it will contain some of the long lost deleted scenes from the film! Consider my day made. …Continued…
If I had the power to name this week, I think I would have to dub it “The Mighty Catalogue Release Week”…or something like that. I mean, there are a couple of major new releases this week but my god, there are a ton of amazing older titles hitting shelves today. It’s tough to be interested in a new title when so many of my favourite oldies are hitting Blu today. But to be truthful here, there isn’t really a clunker in this list. Looks like Europe is getting another sweet batch of Studio Canal Collection Blu-ray discs! This group of six titles is set to hit shops this coming September and includes a number of titles that were hinted at in the trailer we saw earlier this year. No other information is available at this time, aside from names and month of release. However, we do have package art for all six Blu-ray discs. …Continued…

There are a few titles like Godard’s Breathless and Renais’ Last Year at Marienbad, currently still licensed to Criterion which will clearly be the next DVD and Blu-ray discs on the chopping block. …Continued…
Holycrapholycrapholycrap…This is big news for me. Universal has revealed that they’re finally going to release David Lynch’s Dune on Blu-ray on April 27th! I’m such a huge fan of this film. I know, I know…it’s not perfect. It’s got a lot of problems. It’s not exactly like the book. It’s ridiculous and weird. I’ve heard it all before. But I grew up with this adaptation of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi classic and like a lot of failed genre films from the 80s, it has a very special place in my heart. I’m excited to finally get to see it in beautiful 1080p. …Continued…
